Sing at HU 2025

Not attending with a quartet or chorus? Not a problem!

Join a world-class singing experience to broaden your skills and enrich your Harmony University experience!

HU 2025 offers three distinct experiences for both HU participants and those who live in the area:

  • Harmony University Chorus under the direction of Eric Dalbey

  • Next Generation All-Voices Chorus under the direction of Debbie Cleveland

  • Harmony Brigade

2025 HU NGB and HU Chorus Directors

Harmony University Chorus

We welcome all singers of any age interested in having a great time singing while learning about rehearsal techniques, ensemble singing, and performance.

  • The Harmony University Chorus has no audition requirements.

  • Rehearsals are Monday–Friday, 2 - 4 pm

  • Sing on the Saturday night show!

  • A $30 music fee will be assessed to participate in this choruS.

Next Generation All-Voice Chorus

The Next Generation Mixed Chorus is for young singers who want to learn more about barbershop. This chorus experience is a mix of fun, incredible learning with singers of the same generation. Next Gen participation is open to youth 18–25 years old with an outstanding director and the best of the best section leaders! Singers will rehearse three charts and have curated educational content from various HU Faculty designed especially for younger singers. The experience will culminate in a performance on the Saturday evening show. A $30 music fee will be assessed to participate in this chorus.

Harmony Brigade

HU Briagade 2025 1920

If you’re serious about quartet singing and ready to spend your time at HU with other like-minded quartetters, this is your moment!

The Harmony Brigade at Harmony University is for quartet-focused Barbershoppers ready to take on a challenge and rack up as much quartet experience as possible while attending HU. Arrive prepared to sing six medalist-level arrangements, connect with other committed quartetters, and compete in a fun, low-stakes contest that can win you a spot on HU’s Friday night show.

This all-gender event has music in a mixed quartet range (part-ranges are displayed in the application), is limited to 15 individuals per voice part, and admission is by applicationonly to ensure a high-level experience for everyone involved. Applicants are expected to have a level of prior quartet experience, and each application will be hand-reviewed. A $60 music fee covers music licensing and admin costs. Apply by June 1 to secure your spot before registration closes.

What to Expect

You’ll receive sheet music and learning tracks to six songs from this year’s Harmony Brigade core repertoire, allowing you to sing with any other group of individuals who have attended a brigade anywhere else this year. Throughout the week, you’ll refine your skills through dedicated sandbox-quartet singing time, optional quartet coaching from students of HU’s Coaching track, and a structured competition to provide performance opportunities for each singer.

This event runs in the same schedule blocks as the Next Gen Chorus and HU Chorus, so students admitted to Harmony Brigade will not be able to also participate in an HU chorus.
