Our refreshed website makes it easier for newcomers to learn more about the barbershop world. This leaner, more colorful site is designed to quickly help singers find places to sing, bring fans the music and merchandise they love, and guide educators and students to explore barbershop in the classroom and on the stage.
A comprehensive review of web traffic over the past three years has guided the site updates, with particular emphasis on making it easier to find what you’re looking for. Our analysis showed that first-time users overwhelmingly clustered around finding music and information about our events, so these areas will be simplified for quicker access. With this revamped website, first-time visitors will be able to quickly move from “interested” to “committed” fans and customers. Meanwhile, much of the content that was being utilized by members and long-time barbershop fans will continue to be available in the newly created Document Center.
FAQs
What is the difference between Member vs. Non-Member access?
Designed to quickly help singers find places to sing and to share barbershop with the wider community, our refreshed public-facing site will enhance navigation for first-time users, most of whom are not current members. At the same time, the many resources that directly support current members, chapters, and volunteers will be available in an enhanced Document Center that helps conduct the business of barbershopping.
The revamped Document Center houses many of the resources that members and chapters utilize throughout the year. Divided into a few main categories – including Resources, History, Music, and Contests – members and associates will be able to dive in to greater detail depending on need. This new layout provides a deeper level of organization and navigational clarity for users and includes a search function that combs through both the Document Center and the main website. The Document Center will be available to members and associates after logging in with a Member Center username and password.
Is the website url changing/are we losing “barbershop.org”?
No, our URL www.barbershop.org will remain the same.
Do I have to have a username/password to access the barbershop.org website or just the Document Center?
You will not need login credentials to access the main barbershop.org website. You will need your Member Center login ID and password in order to access the Document Center. Forgot your username or password? Click here to recover your password or contact Customer Service at customerservice@barbershop.org or 1.800.876.SING (7464) for assistance.
I am conducting research. Can I still access all of your archived and historical resources?
All of our archived and historical resources and materials are now available in the Document Center, which is available to members and associates of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Much of our history remains on our main site; however, if you are in need of more resources, please contact Megan Tankersley, Executive Assistant, at mtankersley@barbershop.org.
What happens to my bookmarks?
We’ve tried our best to set up redirects for all existing pages; however, we can’t guarantee that all of your bookmarked pages will be redirected to a current page on the new site. If your bookmarked page gets lost, simply remove the existing bookmark and set up a new one on the new site. Note: If that page has moved to the new Document Center, you may be asked to log in with your Member Center username and password.

FAQs
How do I login/access the Doc Center?
You can access the Document Center by clicking on the “Document Center” portal on the main header of the main website. BHS members and associates can login using their Member Center username and password.
Who has access to the Doc Center?
All Society members and associates, including chapter and district leaders, will be able to login to the Doc Center using their Member Center username and password.
How is the Doc Center different from Member Center?
The Document Center houses all of the resources that directly support current members, chapters, and volunteers with all they need to conduct the business of barbershopping. It includes directions on how to enter contests, copyright FAQs, Society policies and business documents, complete records of barbershop history and archives, and more. Members and associates will be able to sort by chapters, districts, quartets, and directors, to name a few major categories.
While some resources are also available in the Member Center, the Doc Center encompasses a much higher volume of documents, organized into categories and accessible from one place.
“Where did [specific page] go?”
The majority of the documents available in the Document Center were transplanted from the Resources section on our old site. The categories on the left-hand side menu allow you to access most documents in just a few clicks, and the search function will comb through documents in both the Document Center as well as the main website.
I can’t find what I’m looking for. Who do I contact?
The refreshed site and Document Center features a more robust search function, so give that a try first. If you’ve utilized the search function and you’re still having trouble locating a specific resource, please contact our Customer Service team at customerservice@barbershop.org.
