Hearsay named International Senior Quartet Champions
Last year’s bronze medalists bumped up a few notches and performed at a level comparable to the summer international contest. The new normal for seniors keeps getting better and better every year.
Classic barbershop songs and ringing chords brought gold medals to Hearsay in the Barbershop Harmony Society’s 2020 International Seniors Quartet Contest, held January 10 in Jacksonville, Florida.
The Ohio quartet sang “By The Sea/On The Boardwalk” and “Little Pal” to emerge at the top of a strong field of 25 seniors quartets, including a strong challenge from One Foot in the Stave, which represented the British Association of Barbershop Singers. Seniors quartets consist of singers aged 55 or older, and with a cumulative age of 240.
The top five quartets were:
- Hearsay, 78.6%
- One Foot in the Stave, 77.3%
- Let's Sing!, 76.3%
- Fossil Creak, 75.7%
- cityScape, 75.5%
