New judge candidates advance
Despite pandemic complications, a cadre of volunteers continued the pursuit of still more challenges ahead.
The Barbershop Harmony Society Contest and Judging system is the envy of many choral organizations, for its ability to train highly skilled individuals to objectively and consistently evaluate and score musical performance. This year, even with the pandemic interrupting normal training activities, the C&J community advanced a new class of applicants to full Candidate Judges.
Becoming a judge is a multi-year process, with most of the expense borne by the candidates themselves. Their reward: a volunteer job with long hours, late nights, and hardly any time to actually sing while at a barbershop convention. Love for the art form and for helping people reach their potential drives them, and we are all richer for their devotion.
