TORONTO — When Lino Lakes native Ben Israelson says that barbershop changed his life, he's not referring to a consciousness-altering haircut. Instead, he's talking about a musical genre that he was suddenly thrust into last fall, when he was asked to sing bass in a barbershop quartet called Kordal Kombat. Two weeks ago, Kordal Kombat placed 16th out of 26 in the collegiate competition at the Barbershop Harmony Society's international convention in Toronto.
