Sad news comes from Music City Chorus in Nashville about the loss of Past Society President and the "World's Greatest Tenor", Charlie McCann. A friend to everyone he met, Charlie passed this week surrounded by family. He was a wonderfully encouraging person, and loved barbershop singing. Many of his chorus brothers fondly recall his mantra before each contest and show: "Let's go rip their faces off!"
Charlie served as Society President in 1990, under the banner of "Membership Begins with ME". Known for his down-home philosophy, business acumen, and shrewd insight into the desires of the typical barbershopper, his passion for growing new members was well known and life-long. He will be sorely missed by the Nashville Chapter, the Dixie District family, and all of those whose lives he touched.
An interview with Charlie appeared in the Harmonizer at the start of his term as Society President: Charlie McCann 1990 Harmonizer Interview
Funeral service: Sunday, January 24th 2-3 pm at Harpeth Hills Cemetery Chapel
Reception following service.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to Harmony Foundation, in memory of Charlie McCann.
