Ragtime Gals and Weezer revive “Buddy Holly”; Vampire Weekend visits “Harmony Hall”
Pop stars call out to barbershop
The end of February saw two big acts give big nods to barbershop harmony. On the verge of releasing its latest album, megastars Weezer dropped in on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to sing their early breakout hit “Buddy Holly.”
Earlier in the month, platinum-sellers Vampire Weekend released the first single from their forthcoming album. The song "Harmony Hall” may not be about our headquarters building, but this lyric almost makes one think the band had hung out in a convention hotel lobby:
“Voices wanna sing / Singers harmonize / ‘Til they can’t hear anything.”
